Description of Arkaan 1.0

This is my very first game for Windows. It runs in 640x480/256 and uses DirectX 5. Originally designed for that time very new DirectX 6, but then I decided to go back to DirectX 5 for sure all people can run it. There's no music in this game (my well known player RAD32 runs on OPL2/3, so it is not very usable in Windows), but has digital sound effects (supports 8bit, 16bit, monaural as well as stereophonic soundcards). The game has no menu or anything similar. Just take your mouse and start playing! And what is it? Well, Arkaan is nothing else than a simple Arkanoid clone. Nothing more, nothing less. There are only 8 levels in this version, but you can very easily create your own ones. This is also my first game with active graphics (commonly used in modern 3D games).

This fourth version is compiled with the latest version of AGO (Aley's Games in Objects) - my platform independent library (obviously it is the same version used in Boulder Man). There's new graphics card benchmark - just start the game with switch -pm (aka. performance meter). Compare the results with other games - values above 10000 fps are not a fault! (Unfortunatelly Quake II is not as much fast ;-)
