As with many of the previous Famicom Dragon Ball games, Kyoushuu! Saiyajin uses a Battle Card system in a strategy format.
This game is notable for being the only source of the names of Brocco and Pumpkin, the illusion Saiyans who fought Yamcha and Tien in the Pendulum Room. Also included was Onion, a palette Swap of Pumpkin that could transform into an Oozaru. Later in the game, six unseen saiyans can be unlocked.
